WARREN COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) – Warren-based State Police are seeking information concerning a shooting incident that occurred sometime between 1:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. yesterday, May 31, at Chapman Dam in Warren County.
According to police, an unknown perpetrator(s) fired several rounds from what is believed to be a rifle.
Police say it is believed the perpetrator(s) fired the rifle into the air from a location north of the Chapman Dam beach area with the round being fired toward the beach.
The victim was at the Chapman Dam beach watching her grandchildren swim and numerous other people were at the beach, police say.
The victim was struck in the left shoulder by what appears to be a rifle round. She was flown to Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa., according to police.
No information was provided on the victim’s condition.
Anyone with information that has not been interviewed by the police is asked to contact the PSP Warren at 814-728-3600 or the Warren County Crime Stoppers and leave anonymous information.
Clarendon Volunteer Fire Department; Warren County Sheriff’s Department; Sheffield Township Police Department; and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources assisted at the scene.
The incident is still under investigation.
