SUGARCREEK BORO., Pa. (EYT) - State Police in Franklin have released details surrounding a Thursday morning crash that shut down a portion of Route 322 in Sugarcreek Borough for several hours.
Police say the accident happened on Thursday around 2:23 a.m. when a 1993 Plymouth van operated by Joshua Harman was traveling west on Route 322 and left the roadway for unspecified reasons.
Police say Harman’s vehicle then re-entered the roadway and collided with a 2014 Kenworth tractor-trailer operated by Arthur Tarleton.
According to police, Harman’s vehicle impacted the truck’s fuel tank, causing the truck to swerve and subsequently roll onto its side, spilling a load of maize.
Police say Harman was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Charges are pending blood-alcohol content testing.
Harman was transported to UPMC Hamot in Erie for treatment of injuries of an unknown severity.
Tarleton was transported to UPMC Northwest for unknown injuries.
